GCYAA Fast Pitch Softball League

    Join the FUN!!!

In 2012, the GCYAA had the only slow pitch program in all of southeast Michigan. Other communities had already made the switch from slow pitch softball to fast pitch softball. The game of slow pitch was basically becoming a modified fast pitch game with umpires not enforcing the arc rule. Surrounding communities, along with much of the nation, changed to Fast Pitch softball because they realized the evolution of slow pitch to fast pitch and that High School ball is Fast Pitch, not slow pitch. The myth is that Fast Pitch softball is too hard for my daughter, but in reality, it is no harder than slow pitch.  With practice, all girls who desire to play slow pitch or fast pitch will be successful no matter what type of game it is. In order to survive with girls sports, the GCYAA has decided to change with the times and develop a Fast Pitch Softball program for all.

The GCYAA is starting up three Fast Pitch Softball divisions for girls. They are: 8 & under (Pinto),
10 & under (Mustang) and 12 & under (Bronco). These divisions will consist of equally divided up teams in the spirit of fairness, fun and competition. Mandatory and equal playing time for all players will be required.  This program is designed to teach girls the fundamentals of Fast Pitch softball and prepare our youth for the Garden City Fast Pitch softball traditions and legacies. Garden City will form a league with other local communities to play games starting at the beginning of May and running through
mid-July. We will play some games on some Saturdays, beginning in June, with communities south of Garden City (a little traveling will be involved) for the Mustang and Bronco divisions. These “cross-over games” will be against the same competition we have in our league.

The 8 & under Fast Pitch softball division will be coach pitch and introduction to player pitch. This league will introduce the concepts of fast pitch softball.  We expect this league to be similar to the “Mini” division of the past without the arc on the pitch.
